Quotes To Live By

"We cannot heal ourselves by act of will, intellect or right conduct, but we can experience healing when we are in harmony with some great rhythm."

James Hollis, Ph.D.

"The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are"
C.G. Jung

"Gratitude is the most transformative force in the cosmos."
Sarah Ban Breathnach

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;
How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;
William Butler Yeats

The Weaving of Love and Loss

“I am circling around God, around the ancient tower, and I have been circling for a thousand years and I still don’t know if I am a falcon, or a great storm, or a great song.”

 Rainer M. Rilke

Welcome to my website.  Something or someone led you here so please stay awhile and acquaint yourself with some of my reflections on psychology and loss or even my comedic musings.

A little bit about me: Professionally, I am a practicing Human Relations Counselor with a Jungian perspective, a Certified Group Psychotherapist and a Clinical Member of The American Group Psychotherapy Association.  I’ve been practicing as a depth psychotherapist for 42 years meaning I believe in the power of the unconscious to offer us some truths and to help set us free emotionally.

I specialize in grief, loss and serious illness and especially the loss of a child. My work is with individuals age 20 and older.  In 2009 I founded and have facilitated a free-of-charge group for bereaved mothers who have lost children. It's called "Mothers Finding Meaning Again." On Facebook I provided a confidential global group with the same name for 220 mothers for 15 years.

I'm also a Partner in MS Care.  This program recognizes and supports quality Multiple Sclerosis care involving health care professionals in the areas of neurology, mental health, and rehabilitation.

I'm a published author. On Oct. 2008 my book When Every Day Matters: A Mother's Memoir on Love, Loss and Life was published by esteemed author of Simple Abundance, Sarah Ban Breathnach in the Simple Abundance Press.  Early in 2009 the foreign rights for When Every Day Matters were contracted with St. Pauls and Better Yourself Books in Mumbai, India, for the English version of my book for distribution in India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Malaysia and Africa. On this website you will find a link to Amazon should you wish to purchase a copy for yourself and for a friend or someone in need of consolation. I hope that you will.

Lastly, if you are interested in entering therapy with me, know that I believe your inner journey is sacred.  I will treat you with respect and compassion.  I will enthusiastically encourage you to work hard to uncover your truths. The therapeutic alliance we establish together will help you unravel complicated issues you struggle with as I support you in your grief journey as well as make changes where possible in your life or profession.  I will also help you to accept that which cannot be changed and cheer you on for what you can do in your one spectacular life.  My bottom line is: I believe faith and spiritual beliefs make life bearable in hard times and are a joy in good times.

I see clients in person in Malvern, PA in a private, beautiful and peaceful setting.  I also consult by telephone and Zoom.  I have named my new office space "All Souls' Sanctuary" for I honor everyone's soul here as well as those souls gone before us.  I do not accept insurance keeping your information highly confidential.  My fee is reasonable.  I will help you decide what comes next.

Warmly,

Mary Jane, a.k.a. "MJ"
